Curriculum

The whole school curriculum is developed from the National Curriculum, which promotes the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and physical development of pupils at the school. It also prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

We introduce work in most areas of learning through themes and topics that relate to the experience and interests of the children. Their learning takes place through play in the Nursery and it becomes progressively more structured throughout the Nursery and Infant years. Carefully planned work, involving children in active learning, ensures that children develop and reinforce their knowledge, concepts and skills in all areas of learning, but with particular emphasis in all aspects of Literacy and Numeracy.

Education in the Infant School is provided in two stages – the Early Years Foundation Stage (for children aged 3-5) and Key Stage 1 (for children aged 5-7).

Plans for each year and term can be used to see in detail what is being taught. You can view them by visiting the Lesson Planning page.
