Learning Support

Learning Library

The Learning Library, set up in 2008, contains a wide variety of exciting resources to support pupils with their reading. Since its inception, the children who access the Learning Library show tremendous progress and are very motivated by the exciting resources they are able to use and borrow.

A Learning Mentor will read with the pupil to track attainment and set targets. The child will then take some books and resources home every week for them to use with their parents, and the scheme is most effective when parents read with and use the resources with their child. Sessions will continue until the Learning Mentor is satisied with the progress and achievement the child has made.

Parents will be informed if their child could benefit from using the Learning Library, and will be given step by step guidance on how to use the resources at home and ultimately help the children reach their targets in reading.
